In our opinion this is THE PLACE TO BE when you wish to spot wild koalas!!
We went to the NP quite early in the morning and before we even got into the NP, we already spotted several koalas! We took the first part of a track that went up. This track was not suited for the type of shoes we were wearing so after a few kms we had to return. Along the route there quite a number of koalas... We then walked the route along the crater lake. We saw some more koalas, and we observed one after we saw koala poo on the ground. The koala was high up in the trees, but still visible!
The park has big variations in height, we experienced that most koalas are at the higher part of the NP.
It should be said that it is possible to camp in the NP (but to a maximum number). And we even spotted koalas near the camp site. It must be great to camp there, I think we will do that next time!
Even after we had left the NP, we saw more koalas than at the time we entered the NP.

                This particular morning      we     saw     17     koalas . . .

That's the best spotting morning ever!
